Implementing Plan: Gen AI executed event – 25/09/2024

Luxat hosted the second edition of the “Implementing Plan: A” event on the 25th of September 2024, bringing together more than 90 of Luxembourg’s Finance and IT professionals. This time, the meeting focused on generative AI (Gen AI) and its impact on the finance and banking industry. Together with leading experts, we explored this hot topic by discussing real use cases and uncovering the transformative opportunities artificial intelligence brings to business.

The event was kicked off by Brajendra Singh (Amazon Web Services, AWS), who set the stage by emphasizing that AI isn’t just about creating content—it’s about creating value. He showcased several customer success stories and highlighted finance and banking Gen AI use cases, including: 1) improving customer experience, e.g., accelerating responses to inquiries with search and summarization; 2) increasing the efficiency of knowledge workers, e.g., quickly drafting investment research, loan documentation, insurance policies, regulatory communications, and business correspondence; 3) analyzing markets and customer sentiment, e.g., generating customized sentiment analysis for investment portfolios; and 4) building new products and automating business processes, e.g., creating on-demand structured data products from large unstructured data sources.

The second part of the event featured a panel discussion on how Gen AI affects businesses. Our panelists including: Sébastien Respaut (Microsoft), Mark Osborn (IBM), Clément Milville (Swissquote Bank Europe), and Christophe Pietz (Luxat), participated in a conversation moderated by Jim Kent. The panelists highlighted how Gen AI is revolutionizing the finance and banking industry, unlocking innovation from improving customer service to reducing manual work. Mark Osborn emphasized the crucial role of a proper data strategy, noting that “there is no AI without data.” Clément Milville, described how AI can analyze portfolios against market news, providing clients with data-driven investment advice. Christophe Pietz underlined that Gen AI can significantly reduce the number of requests to the IT department, allowing the team to focus on more strategic tasks.  Sebastien Respaut encouraged the audience to reflect on the value that using AI can bring to our day to day lives and that the greatest risk is missing out on this wave of innovation.

All panelists confirmed that as we move forward, the governance and security must remain top priorities to ensure AI adoption aligns with regulatory standards.

Following the panel discussion, all attendees took part in a networking session, where conversations on the transformative potential of Gen AI continued. Talks in non-formal environment, allowed participants to share ideas, build new professional relationships, and exchange insights on implementing AI solutions.

Dora event on 21/02/2024 with Arendt and Deloitte, Moderated by Kent Media sponsored by Lancelot.

Luxat hosted an event, “Implementing Plan A: Dora”, on 21 of February 2024, gathering more than 60 Luxembourg’s Finance and IT professionals. The main part of the event was a panel on Dora (Digital Operational Resilience Act), which has become one of the most discussed topics in the FSI industry in recent months. The panelists, including: Astrid Wagner, Partner in IP, Communication & Technology at Arendt & Medernach, Laureline Senequier, Partner from Deloitte and Christophe Pietz, Luxat Founder, debated the impact of Dora and the management of digital risks in financial markets. The conversation was moderated by Jim Kent.

During the discussion, Astrid Wagner emphasized that Dora requires that all board members keep up to date with sufficient knowledge and still to understand and assess ICT risk and its potential impact, including by following specific training on a regular basis.

Laureline Senequier highlighted the fact that Dora isn’t just about teamwork, it’s a transformative approach to making ICT more resilient in supporting operations. This means ICT service providers also have a crucial role to play in ensuring resilience to various challenges and disruptions.

Christophe Pietz said Dora should be seen as an opportunity for third party providers. For those who put risk and security in their DNA, it will be a competitive advantage. For others, they will be challenged and maybe pushed out of the game by Dora regulation.

After the event, all attendees participated in the networking session, continuing discussions on how Dora impacts the industry and how each individual working in the FSI organizations needs to prepare for January 2025 when Dora must be applied.

We would like to say a big thank you to our panelists and all participants who joined us and engaged in numerous conversations during the networking session. We hope you had many inspiring discussions and you gained a lot of valuable connections. Additionally, we want to express our gratitude to our sponsor, Lancelot Recruitment, for their support in making our initiative possible.
